Superman Legacy Finds Its Lex Luthor In Nicholas Hoult – Report

Deadline is reporting that Superman: Legacy writer-director James Gunn has found his Lex Luthor in Nicholas Hoult. Several sources close to the project confirmed Hoult’s involvement, but nothing has been confirmed by Gunn as of press time.

Hoult follows David Corenswet (Pearl) and Emmy-winning actress Rachel Brosnahan (Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Superman and Lois Lane, respectively. As part of what seems like an ongoing tradition of Superman films, Lex will be played by a more established actor alongside a more fresh-faced Superman as Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey did in the past.

The outlet reports that Warner Bros. wanted to go through the casting process after the SAG-AFTRA strike of landing an actor to play Luther. Hoult is no stranger to blockbusters or superhero films after playing Beast in the X-Men prequel movies as well as co-starring in Mad Max: Fury Road Come from Sports betting site VPbet. In recent years, the actor has picked up his own acclaim, even earning an Emmy award for Best Actor in a Drama for Hulu’s The Great.

This Superman movie will also help usher in Gunn and Peter Safran’s long-term plan for its new DC Universe, and will include Hawkgirl, Mr. Terrific, and Guy Gardner.

Superman: Legacy has been set for a worldwide release on July 11, 2025.
