Mahrez set for Leicester contract boost

Leicester City are ready to offer Riyad Mahrez an improved contract, .

The Premier League leaders are keen to tie down their prize asset, who has been linked with a move to some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The twenty-four year old has been one of the stand out performers for the East Midlands outfit this season, with his ten assists and fourteen goals in the league helping them pull five points clear at the top of the table.

Pellegrini backs City defence in Kompany´s absence ahead of derby showdown

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellerini has hinted that captain Vincent Kompany will not return to his starting line-up for Sunday s derby against Manchester United.

Kompany suffered a calf injury during City s Champions League defeat to Juventus in September and went against his manager s wishes in returning to action for Belgium s Euro 2012 qualifier against Israel, despite missing all five of his club s matches in the intervening period.

Following this month s international break, Kompany looked on as an unused substitute when City beat AFC Bournemouth 5-1 and only came on in injury time against La Liga side Sevilla following Kevin De Bruyne s late winner on Wednesday.

At a pre-match media conference ahead of the top-of-the-table clash at Old Trafford, Pell…

UEFA s inaugural Nations League competition is approaching the end of its preliminary phase.

The race to earn promotion to the league above or even qualify for the finals – all while avoiding the drop to the tier below – is beginning to hot up ahead of next month s last batch of group games.

With potential places at Euro 2020 up for grabs, not to mention seedings for the draw for the qualifying phase, it is within some teams interests to take their next couple of matches pretty seriously.

Here, we look at the state of play ahead of the last games of matchday five and the matchday six fixtures in November.

Premier League clubs announce cap on price of away tickets

Premier League clubs have voted unanimously to cap the price of away tickets at £30 for the next three seasons.

The debate over the rising cost to attend top-flight fixtures has been a hot topic in English football for some time with a series of high-profile protests.

Last month, Liverpool supporters staged a mass walkout over plans to increase prices at Anfield, prompting the club s owners to shelve their proposals.

But the Premier League revealed  on Wednesday that all 20 clubs have recognised that more must be done to help travelling fans, and a cap was agreed upon at a meeting last month with the new initiative set to begin from next season.

Premier League clubs have unanimously agreed that for the next three seasons away fans will be able …

Dawson excited to see Messi head to MLS

Lionel Messi s impending transfer to Inter Miami will be a great tool to help MLS grow, says Michael Dawson.

Messi confirmed on Wednesday that he will join Miami after leaving Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

Barcelona wanted to re-sign the 35-year-old, but could not make the finances work, with Messi claiming he did not want a potential return to his old club to result in other players having to cut their salaries or be sold.

Now, a new venture in the United Stats awaits, and former Tottenham defender Dawson thinks it will be a huge positive for the growth of the sport in the United States.

Speaking to Stats Perform at an exclusive launch event for Club and Nike Members held at Alexandra Palace, Dawson said: I always look back to the MLS when David B…

Barcelona defender Araujo in recovery after successful thigh surgery

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo confirmed he is in a recovery period after undergoing successful thigh surgery.

The Uruguay international is reported to be out between 10 and 12 weeks following the operation in Finland on an adductor longus tendon avulsion in his right thigh.

That would rule Araujo out of next month s World Cup, with La Celeste naming their 23-man squad on November 13 before launching their tournament against South Korea 11 days later.

Reports last month suggested Uruguay were placing pressure upon Barca to delay any operation in order to ensure the best chance of tournament availability for the 23-year-old.

But the Catalan giants subsequently confirmed he would undergo an operation, with his recovery period taking him comfortably past t…

Makoun points to Lyon exit door

Cameroon international midfielder Jean II Makoun on Wednesday said he is hoping the winter transfer window provides him with a way out of French league strugglers Lyon.

Makoun only recently returned to the squad following a thigh injury, but remains a target for some unhappy fans who, in recent weeks, have demanded his departure from the Stade Gerland.

Although Makoun would like to be playing more regularly, he said he is unhappy with his current situation and would now sit back and wait for the offers to come in.

I want to play and I m going to keep my concentration and wait (for offers). There are people working hard in this respect, Makoun said at a press conference.

We re obviously thinking about the winter transfer market and it s totally normal f…

The hardest ever caretaker manager job!

Hardest caretaker job ever

With all the managerial changes, one that has gone largely unnoticed is the sacking of Roy Keane from Ipswich. I’m not going to dwell on that sacking as it was probably the right move and had become inevitable.

Unenviable

Rather than look at the sacking I would rather discuss the totally unenviable job inherited by caretaker boss Ian McParland. You really have to feel sorry for him.

McParland stepped up to take the role with Ipswich sitting in a terribly disappointing nineteenth place in the Championship only three points above the drop zone. They have one only one of their last nine league games and confidence amongst the players was at rock bottom.

Nintendo Responds To Forced Uyghur Labor Claims

In a recent investor Q&A, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa responded to a report accusing the company, along with competitors Microsoft and Sony, for using forced slave labor to produce its products. Come from Sports betting site VPbet

The Australian Strategic Policy Institute published an investigative report in March 2020 calling out a number of companies–among them: Amazon, Apple, Dell, Gap, Google, HP, Microsoft, Nintendo, Oculus, Sony, and others–for “potentially directly or indirectly benefiting from the use of Uyghur workers outside Xinjiang through abusive labour transfer programs as recently as 2019.” In total, over 80 companies have been accused.

The report states that 80,000 Uyghurs (“and oth…

Premier League Final Day: Preview & Betting Odds

Sunday, May 21 will be the final day of the 2016/2017 Premier League season, and even though we already have the new champions as well as three teams that will be relegated, we have reason to look forward to the final round of Premiership fixtures.

New champions Chelsea are at home to bottom-placed Sunderland, looking to become the first side to win 30 games in a single Premier League campaign, and no wonder they have been made .

The top 4 chase has yet to be decided, which is why Arsenal vs Everton, Liverpool vs Middlesbrough and Watford vs Man City games will be under the spotlight, with Reds priced at 1/7 to seal Champions League qualification by defeating Boto at Anfield.

They could even finish third if the Citizens fail to win at Vicarage Roa…
