Barcelona in for Kante

Barcelona are interested in signing Chelsea s N Golo Kante, according to Sky Sports.

The La Liga champions have already lost two midfielders this summer Andres Iniesta and Paulinho, while Andre Gomes failed to make an impact at the club since his arrival from Valencia in 2016 and is now a target for both Arsenal and Juventus. He also failed to make the Portugal World Cup squad.

Barca are, therefore, in search of quality midfield reinforcements, and Kante, who won back-to-back Premier League titles with Leicester City and Chelsea, certainly falls in that bracket. Apart from being a hugely important part of both teams, his role in the France team at the World Cup has been equally significant. A win in the final of the tournament would add the biggest trophy in football to…

Premier League clubs announce cap on price of away tickets

Premier League clubs have voted unanimously to cap the price of away tickets at £30 for the next three seasons.

The debate over the rising cost to attend top-flight fixtures has been a hot topic in English football for some time with a series of high-profile protests.

Last month, Liverpool supporters staged a mass walkout over plans to increase prices at Anfield, prompting the club s owners to shelve their proposals.

But the Premier League revealed  on Wednesday that all 20 clubs have recognised that more must be done to help travelling fans, and a cap was agreed upon at a meeting last month with the new initiative set to begin from next season.

Real Madrid 3 Valencia 2: Ronaldo at the double as Zidane´s men keep heat on Barca

A brace from Cristiano Ronaldo helped Real Madrid to a 3-2 win over Valencia that ensures they go into the final day of the Liga season as Barcelona s only challengers for the title.

Ronaldo s 48th and 49th goals of another prolific season, which sandwiched a Karim Benzema strike, earned Zinedine Zidane s side an 11th-straight league win to keep them within a point of champions Barca, who hammered Espanyol 5-0.

Victory moves Madrid above neighbours and Champions League final opponents Atletico, who lost 2-1 at already-relegated Levante to drop out of the title race, and means they visit Deportivo La Coruna next weekend knowing that a 12th win on the spin could see them overhaul Luis Enrique s team in the most dramatic of circumstances.

No one like Ronaldinho until Messi – Guardiola lavishes praise on Brazil great

Ronaldinho helped Barcelona to rediscover their self-esteem, according to Pep Guardiola, who paid a glowing tribute to the retiring Brazilian superstar.

The 37-year-old has not played competitively since 2015 and his brother and agent announced this week he would officially hang his boots up this year with a farewell schedule of matches.

The lavishly gifted forward will forever be associated with Barcelona, where he won back-to-back LaLiga titles, the Champions League and the Ballon d Or during a glorious spell from 2003 to 2008.

He was moved on at the start of Guardiola s tenure as Camp Nou coach and the Manchester City boss credited Ronaldinho with clearing a path for the era of dominance he would oversee.

Championship clubs’ wage bill exceeds revenue for fifth year running – report

Championship clubs’ spending on wages exceeded revenue for a fifth successive season in 2021-22, according to a new report.

Deloitte’s Annual Review of Football Finance found second-tier teams’ combined wages-to-revenue ratio was an astonishing 108 per cent, as clubs continued to chase the dream of reaching the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest, who ultimately succeeded in reaching the top flight at the end of the 2021-22 season via the play-offs, spent almost 200 per cent more on wages than they earned in revenue – £58.6million compared to £29.3m – in their promotion year, according to figures in the Deloitte report.

Championship clubs’ total revenue was up 13 per cent in 2021-22 compared to the season before, reaching £676million.

Ancelotti: Real Madrid´s 15th European title was harder than expected

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti felt winning the European Cup for a record-extending 15th time on Saturday had been much more difficult than expected for the Spanish champions.

Los Blancos needed two late goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Junior to beat Germany s Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the Champions League final at Wembley.

I never get used to it, because it was difficult, very difficult, more than expected, Ancelotti told Movistar Plus+.

In the first half we were a bit lazy, we had losses and they [Dortmund] were able to play how they wanted, but in the second half we were better and more balanced, with fewer losses.

This is a dream that continues. I don t know what is going to happen tonight, but we are not going to sleep!
